THIS IS A TRIO OF ANTIQUE COIN SILVER SPOONS. PRIOR TO THE USE OF STANDARDIZED SILVER PURITY MARKS, SILVER WAS UNMARKED. COIN SILVER IS TYPICALLY 90% SILVER IN-LINE WITH THE CURRENCY OF THE TIME PERIOD. THESE SPOONS WERE MADE BY A SILVERSMITH NAMED JOHN ADAM IN ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA. JOHN ADAM WAS ACTIVE FROM 1796 - 1848. HE CAME FROM A FAMILY LINE OF SILVERSMITHS. HE WAS AN EXCEPTIONALLY SKILLED SILVERSMITH. THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART DISPLAYS PIECES BY JOHN ADAM. THE SPOONS WEIGH 6.4 OUNCES. THEY MEASURE ABOUT 9 1/4" IN LENGTH. THEY ARE MONOGRAMED WITH A 'D.' THEY ARE IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION WITH NO TARNISH AND VERY LITTLE WEAR.
